How Lean Change transformed HR strategy development

Client challenge

The UK HR team of a global engineering consultancy partnered with Uuna to co-create their 2025-2027 People & Culture strategy using Lean Change. The CHRO wanted a bottom-up approach ‘by the people, for the people’ – moving away from traditional top-down methods.

What we did

To engage 45 key stakeholders meaningfully, we co-created three focused workstreams:

Empowered & Enabled People Managers.

Impactful Wellbeing Programmes.

Leaders in Inclusion, Equity & Diversity.

Each workstream participated in a 90-minute Lean Change ‘Strategic Change Canvas’ session, generating over 1,800 ideas and comments. Participants shared their canvases with their teams, expanding involvement to over 100 contributors per stream. We consolidated these into a single whiteboard, summarizing insights and feedback into a cohesive strategy.

In a follow-up workshop, we facilitated the team to turn the ideas into actionable steps, identifying eight quick wins and 329 blockers distilled into eight key themes. Using dot voting, participants prioritised actions, ensuring the strategy was both comprehensive and achievable.

Business outcomes

In just one month, over 300 people were engaged in shaping the strategy, fostering ownership and alignment across the organisation.

“Uuna’s Lean Change approach delivered a level of engagement and insight I’ve never seen before. Their facilitation created a safe space for honest dialogue, and their expertise ensured unbiased, impactful analysis. The volume and quality of inputs—and how quickly we moved from ideas to action—was exemplary.”
