How Lean Change helped Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) co-create their 2025 plans

Client challenge

The ERG lead of a global professional services company brought in Uuna to help facilitate the co-creation of their 2025 plans using Lean Change approaches.

Members of the three ERGs – LGBTQI+, Neurodiversity, and Gender Balance – are passionate volunteers who drive awareness and foster inclusion alongside their day jobs. However, with limited time and high expectations, they often faced burnout and unrealistic deadlines.

Our aim was to help them:

  • Develop realistic, executable plans for 2025
  • Define what ‘success’ looks like for each group
  • Ensure every member’s ideas were heard and valued
  • Stay mindful of their wellbeing

What we did

Co-created bespoke whiteboard canvases with each group, based on the Lean Change ‘Strategic Change Canvas’.

Facilitated sessions to help them generate ideas for key initiatives, projects, and major events for the year, along with quick wins for Q1.

Used dot voting to prioritise projects.

Helped them create a Kanban in Microsoft Planner to capture next steps and responsibilities.

Business outcomes

By co-creating their plans, members felt heard and empowered. The process ensured every voice contributed, leading to a shared vision for 2025. Objectives were realistic and sustainable, reducing the risk of burnout. The whiteboards became the go-to resource for tracking progress, helping maintain alignment throughout the year.

“Using Lean Change approaches means that members of the groups now feel included, their voice matters and they are part of the plan for 2025, because they co-created it. Realistic objectives have been set, so they can be delivered without stress, guilt or burn out.”
