Readying a global internal communications strategy for complex change

Client challenge

Capability gaps and resource constraints in an internal communications function of a major international company posed a business risk to success of upcoming complex global change.

What we did

Rapid assessment – Conducted deep listening to quickly understand people, systems, and process challenges within the internal communications function.

Strategic alignment – Partnered with the client to define business and environmental pressures in key markets, setting immediate priorities for communications.

Team capability building – Ran a change communications workshop to identify improvement opportunities and quick wins while upskilling key project, change, and comms colleagues with simple Lean Change storytelling tools.

Strengthened governance – Established a regular cadence of steering committee meetings with a standing agenda, creating a safe space for alignment and collaboration..

Tactical issue resolution – Fixed urgent communication gaps in two high-risk situations (Region and Function) to stabilise operations and enable progress.

Structured planning – Developed an internal communications 90-day plan and strategic recommendations in preparation for the new Head of Internal Communications.

Cross-functional engagement – Created an enterprise Communications Steering forum to align messaging across Functional and Regional change programmes, improving communication, ways of working, and trust across teams.

Business outcomes

  • Future-ready change capability – Effective management and prioritisation of upcoming deliverables and upskilled team on change communications principles and methods.
  • Clearer internal alignment – Strengthened collaboration across teams, ensuring communications were positioned effectively in key areas of business risk or sensitivity.
  • Stronger stakeholder engagement – Improved communication and trust across the internal communications team and their stakeholders. “I’m clear on what I need to do and have the support I need to do it.”

It’s been challenging to bring all our changes together and tell the story in a way we could get behind. Uuna made this much easier for us.
