Building change capability of 140 non change managers in a global organisation

Client challenge

A leading global engineering consultancy, sought to embed Lean Change across the organisation, moving away from traditional change management methods that weren’t resonating with their culture. They aimed to build internal capability within HR leadership to drive change independently.

What we did

Designed and delivered a six-month Lean Change capability-building programme for 131 leaders across 14 territories.

Developed a Global Community of Lean Change Agents, selecting 11 key leaders from across the organisation.

Provided twice-weekly training sessions, a Community of Practice, and hands-on coaching on six real-world change initiatives.

Equipped leaders with tools such as co-creation workshops, experimentation techniques, and visual management approaches.

Business outcomes

  • 295% average increase in competence, engagement, and confidence in Lean Change.
  • Lean Change embedded as WSP’s default approach to managing transformation.
  • HR leaders now acting as internal change agents, reducing reliance on external consultants.
  • Improved cross-team collaboration, responsiveness to change, and iterative problem-solving across the organisation.

“This initiative has had a huge impact. Lean Change is now ingrained in how we think and work. Because we’ve introduced it to so many people, it’s now an unspoken expectation that change will be managed with a Lean approach.”
