Building intergenerational teams

🌍 Building teams where all generations thrive – together

Totally inspired after Lyndsey Simpson’s talk at the Women In Change Change Maker Summit 2024…

Her work through 55/Redefined highlights how mixed-age teams outperform by 288% in financial metrics.

And that society is getting it wrong by clinging to outdated stereotypes and a ‘retirement at 65’ mindset. Aging is a mega trend we can all support.

💡 Here’s what Lyndsey shared: Did you know?

• Half of today’s babies will live to 104, adding 30 more productive years than a century ago.
• By 2030, the 60+ population will grow by 40%, while the working-age population (c.20-64) shrinks by 25%.

✨ Why intergenerational teams?
• Experience + Innovation: Resilience and mentorship meet fresh ideas and digital expertise (all generations bring both though of course)
• Stability: Workers over 50 are 200% less likely to take sick days and have 5x lower turnover.
• Engagement: 9 in 10 workers over 50 report job satisfaction.

What can we do?
1) Understand our workforce: Know our age demographics and trends through data.
2) Create age-inclusive policies: Rethink hiring, training, and retention to welcome talent at every stage of life.
3) Build intergenerational teams: Foster collaboration, mentorship/reverse mentorship, and knowledge-sharing across all age groups.

At Uuna we’re excited to champion these teams for impactful results.

👏Huge congratulations to Sarah Bar-Lev and Louise Robey for bringing inspiring change-makers together at a brilliant summit, and for your passion in advancing the industry.

I’m proud to be a founding member.

🤔 What do you think? When do you think you’ll finish working – or do you plan to keep making an impact, no matter your age?
