Becoming a B Corp

“I wanted to create a business that my kids would be proud of, and have a positive impact on the world. ”Charlotte Talmage, Founder

We’re proud to be a B-corp – balancing profit with purpose, and actively contributing to people and the planet.

In a global economy where we believe business can be a force for good, we strive to create a positive impact.

We’re doing this by living and breathing our passion to share open-source change management in the communities we work with, to improve the experience of change across the world, for more positive lives.

Before mass consumerism took hold in the 1950s, business embodied societal betterment.

The very first evidence of corporations in ancient India and Rome were given a licence to operate only if they fulfilled some form of defined societal purpose.

It’s only relatively recently that shareholder focus became key, most famously in Milton Friedman’s 1970 article for The New York Times – ‘The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase Its Profits’.

B-Corp certification brings us back to the original roots of the corporation.

Emphasising long-term thinking over short-term gains.

It’s a powerful movement that aligns business with societal good, echoing ancient principles like those from Indian Sreni in the fourth century, which prioritised real, positive contributions to society.

At Uuna, we believe in progress, not perfectionism.

Our journey includes the Better Business Act, ensuring we don’t succeed in one area while neglecting another.

As Martha Lane Fox said recently in The Times, going through the B Corp process “puts you on the right side of history for the planet and people.”

Most importantly, it’s our people who make Uuna what it is. Thank you to all our consultants who create and embody our spirit.
