‘Wholeness’ – knowing that we’re here as colleagues and as human beings, is a term I came across this week and love.
We had a great time at our company bbq this month, together with our families, children and dogs. I think our hearts were touched by getting together in a new way, bringing our ‘whole selves’. We celebrated working with four new wonderful clients since February, and each other. Helping us to foster more collaboration and goodwill.
I came across a great way to remove our professional masks and build trust this week which I’d love to try – leveraging story telling. When welcoming a new colleague to the team, each member brings an object to show that symbolises their wish for the new joiner and shares their wish with them. As well as making someone new feel welcome, it serves existing team members just as much, because the team get to know each other at a deeper level – showing what the story teller values in the workplace and in their relationships with colleagues.
